Marcin Masecki - Ravitz w PowiĘkszeniu cz. 1 (04.09.2009)
In 2000 Masecki received a scholarship to study in Berklee Colege of Music in Boston, where he spent the next 2 years. After graduation he returned to Warsaw and became an active member of the local improvised/alternative scene, reguarly inviting musicians from Boston and NY to perform.
Among others he worked with Tomasz Stanko, Pink Freud, Muzykoterapia, Innocent Sorcerers, Wojtek Waglewski, Macio Moretti, Raphael Roginski and Ziv Ravitz.
In 2005 he won first prize in the International Jazz Piano Competition in Moscow and formed the band TAQ, with Ziv Ravitz and Garth Stevenson. Together the have played several concert tours in Poland and the US, performing, among others, in New York's celebrated Joe's Pub.
In 2008 he formed the band Paristetris with argentinian singer Candelaria Saenz Valiente and polish multi-instrumentalist Macio Moretti. They released their debut album in the independent label Lado ABC and have already performed on important festivals such as the Heineken Open'er Fest in Gdansk. In 2009 they were nominated for Artist of the Year by the cultural magazine Aktivist.
After acumulating an impressive discography as member of various bands, Masecki realeased his first solo album in 2009 entitled "Bob", which has received an avalanche of positive reviews.
His parallel passion is classical music. Since 2007 he has been involved in the monumental process of recording Bach's "Art of the Fugue". Meanwhile he regularly performs solo recitals with varied repertoires, especially german 18th century music.
Masecki currently lives between Warsaw and Buenos Aires.

Masecki was born in Warsaw in 1982. He began musical training at an early age with his father and quickly developed a taste for improvisation. At 12 he became a regular at local jam sessions and formed his first trio. In the years 1994 - 98 he studied at the Fryderyk Chopin Music School and joined the group Alchemik.
They perfomed extensively throughout Europe, recording 4 albums and winning the Jazz Hoeilaart Competition in 98.

Marcin Masecki nació en Varsovia en 1982. Comenzó sus primeras lecciones de música con su padre, clarinetista, a los 3 a?os, decidiéndose por el piano a la edad de 7. Fue estudiante en el Conservatorio de Música Fryderyk Chopin de Varsovia entre los a?os 1994 y 98, período durante el cual formó su primer trío de jazz. Luego, con la banda Alchemik tocaron extensivamente a través de Europa, grabando 4 álbumes y ganando el Jazz Hoeilaart Competition en Bruselas en 1998.
A los 18 a?os ganó una Beca para estudiar en Berklee College of Music en Boston. Al graduarse de Berklee en el 2002, volvió a Polonia y se involucró en la escena local del Jazz de vanguardia polaco (colaborando con artistas como Tomasz Stanko, Pink Freud, Macio Moretti, Rafael Roginski, entre otros).
En el 2005 ganó el Grand Prix en el International Jazz Piano Competition en Moscu y formó la banda TAQ (free jazz) con Ziv Ravitz y Garth Stevenson, con la cual hicieron giras por Polonia y por los E.E.U.U., tocando en el célebre Joe's Pub en New York.
En el 2008 formó la banda Paristetris (pop/rock/electrónica) con la cantante argentina Candelaria Saenz Valiente y el multi-instrumentalista polaco Macio Moretti. Paristetris lanzó su primer disco este a?o a través del sello independiente Lado abc. Se presentaron con mucho éxito en festivales importantes como el Heineken Open'er Fest en Gdansk y fueron nominados a artistas del a?o 2009 por la revista cultural Aktivist.
Tras acumular una extensa discografia como parte de varias bandas, Masecki sacó este a?o su primer disco de piano solo, titulado "BOB" el cual fue aclamado por la critica y por el público entendido.
Paralelamente a estas actividades, Masecki está involucrado con la música clásica, especialmente con la música alemana del siglo XVIII. Actualmente está trabajando en la grabación del Arte de la Fuga de Bach.
