Ground beetle and larva of the genus Calosoma in the family Carabidae.






Ironclad Beetles (Phloeodes pustulosis)






Laemostenus complanatus, a fast-running, predatory carabid beetle. Although native to northern Africa, this beetle is fairly common in southern California.

Male black rain beetle (Pleocoma puncticollis), a large scarab beetle that appears with the first soaking rain in San Diego County.
