A scene from an unwritten ghost story
Countess Varvara of Szentmihaly, the last in a long line of photophobic aristocrats with pale complexions and nocturnal habits, had never been out of the remote Carpathian valley where she was born.
She would read Byron by moonlight and dream of sunny Southern climes that she was destined never to see.
The ghost of lady Tamara Grimoire, the last in her reclusive line was sometimes to be seen riding out through the abandoned cemeteries of her youthful wanderings on moonlit nights.
Varvara Grimoire , the reclusive Countess of Szentmihaly was reputed to be in league with the Evil One.
Rather unfairly so, in my opinion.
But what do I know- it all happened a very long time ago...
While doing some research into the whereabouts of Velasquez's lost masterpiece "Leda Cupid and the swan",

Who he was I do not know, but he seems to have had a thing about swans.
