Black Country Communion
The Ballad of John Henry
Live Over Europe DVD

Who killed John Henry, in the battle of sinners and saints
Who killed John Henry, in the battle of sinners and saints

Take this hammer carry it to the Captain, tell him why I'm gone
Take this hammer carry it to the Captain, tell him I'm goin' home
I don't want your cold iron shackles around my leg
I don't want your cold iron shackles around my leg

Who killed John Henry, in the battle of sinners and saints
Who killed John Henry, in the battle of sinners and saints

I'm a long way from Colorado, a long way from my home...
Get the hammer that killed John Henry, won't kill me no more
Gimme the hammer that killed John Henry, cause it won't kill me
Gimme the hammer that killed John Henry, cause it won't kill me

Who killed John Henry, in the battle of sinners and saints
Who killed John Henry, in the battle of sinners and saints

Take this hammer carry it to the Captain, tell him I'm goin' home
Take this hammer carry it to the Captain, tell him why I'm gone
I'm a wanted man with the Captain
I'm a wanted man in the shackles
I'm a wanted man in the shackles
I'm a wanted man .....

Who killed John Henry, in the battle of sinners and saints
Who killed John Henry, in the battle of sinners and saints

I killed John Henry, in the battle of sinners and saints

Black Country Communion was an English-American hard rock band based in Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2009, the band was a supergroup comprising bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes, guitarist and vocalist Joe Bonamassa, drummer Jason Bonham, and keyboardist Derek Sherinian. Originally formed by Hughes and Bonamassa with the help of producer Kevin Shirley, the group released its debut album Black Country in September 2010. Second album 2 followed in June 2011, which was promoted on a European tour later in the year. The band released its third album Afterglow in October 2012.

The band was initiated as a side project by Hughes and Bonamassa following a performance together in Los Angeles in November 2009, who on the advice of Shirley recruited Bonham and Sherinian later in the year. The name Black Country Communion is derived from the term Black Country, referring to the West Midlands area of England where Hughes and Bonham were brought up. The group's sound is intentionally reminiscent of popular classic rock groups of the 1970s, reflecting the previous work of frontman Hughes as well as the link between Bonham and his father John's band Led Zeppelin.

In March 2013, after months of public tensions within the band, Joe Bonamassa announced that he was no longer a member of Black Country Communion, with the question over whether the group would continue with another guitarist unclear. Days later, Glenn Hughes confirmed that the band is officially over, hinting that he would continue working with Bonham and Sherinian under a new band name.
